You are right, Karen.  It has been clarified for me that the mission is to
buy Cavaliers from auctions, so Lucky Star cannot pay the fee for the puppy.

You are wrong, too.  :-)  The puppymill will, indeed, refund their money if
they return the puppy within a certain number of days.  *I* have pleaded
with this family to turn the puppy over to rescue.  I have also spent hours
on the phone educating this family about the horrors of puppymills.
However, they are not willing/able to forfeit the $850 they paid for her.  I
would rather raise money to pay them the $850 for this puppy than to see her
returned to the mill for God knows what.  Two extremely kind individuals
have offered to "bail" this puppy out so she may be turned over to rescue as
soon as this family is willing to let go of her.  I am extremely grateful
for their generosity and concern for this Cavalier.
