I wanted to let you all know that I have been in touch with Renee about the little pup in Oklahoma. Here is the situation:
Renee has been talking to the owner of this pup for the past three days...and has been educating, educating, educating her about the puppymills and why she should not take her puppy back there. At this point, the gal has agreed not to take the puppy back to the mill...but the family has concerns about the pup's health and the money they have spent. I believe this pup is about 10 weeks old and has been having some "vomiting" issues. Given the fact that the owner has 3 small children, the youngest only 1 year old...and they seem a little rowdy...well, the vomiting could just be nerves. The owner has taken the pup back to the vet this morning for an assessment. She may decide to keep the pup...but if not, she wants her money back. The situation with Lucky Star is that our corporate filing calls for the donated monies to be spent to purchase Cavaliers from commercial breeders. We cannot purchase from pet stores or private owners...it is not legal for us to do so with Lucky Star money. I am so grateful to those of you who offered to donate to Lucky Star so we could go get this particular pup...but that is something we cannot do :( Renee and I discussed alternatives. If the owner does not wish to keep the pup...and list members would like to send private donations to Renee to pay for the pup, she would be willing to get her. Lucky Star could then help by using our network to foster and place the pup in a good forever home. Renee said she would keep me informed about the owner's decision...so, please don't do anything until we post that help is needed. Renee or I will let you know... Thanks!
