My belief is that slicing a dogs vocal cords for the benefit/convenience of the owner or neighbor is wrong. While I believe there is much debate and a split in beliefs when it comes to the extreme situations some have described where debarking was a last alternative therefore invoked, I also believe that a large number of debarkings are done without any extreme situation, and/or because the owners are just lazy and it is convenient (and somewhat accepted) not only (it appears) in Cavaliers but other breeds where it may be standard procedure almost. I think it is a shame that it is accepted so readily. That is my opinion. Hey I may be on the radical edge what can I say... after all I also think breaking a dogs ears so they stand up pretty and cutting off (docking) tails is also an unnecessary practice that should be stopped.
