Here is the quote cut and pasted from my earlier post

You demonstrate your usual accuracy. I did NOT give a dog away for being a
barker. I had an Alaskan Malamute that was well over 100 lbs and 6 months
old. The dog was showing temperment issues and dominance over my children
who at the time were toddlers. When he lashed out and grabbed one of the
kids one day , the choice had to be made for the safety of the children that
dog needed a better home and deserved a better home more suited to its
nature. We had 1/4 acre in a busy neighborhood and our kids were too young
for such a big dog. I actually worked with the breeder and we gave him away
to a lawyer in P.A. where he now runs on 10 + acres with a pond. They have
sent us films of him chasing the geese and playing with their 14 yr old son.
Is the dog better off? Yes. Was it best to play on the safe side with
toddlers yes. Did I make some mistakes in obtaining that dog Yes LOTS. Did
I mutilate the dog through surgery or in any way disable a normal function of
its body? No! I still have my barker Claudia. She isn't going anywhere and
debarking is not a consideration for me.

If you don't see a difference between rehoming to a better living condition
as a last resort when a young child may be in danger and routinely slicing
vocal cords and rendering a dog unable for life to perform a natural function
for the sake of quiet then I'm sure we will never agree. If I'm correct your
background is shelties where debarking is accepted as routine as
innoculations so your stance is understandable.
