Hi Liz,
Your idea of picketing, or as I prefer handing out information sheets, is an
excellent one! Several years ago I stood outside Russo's Pets in the
fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach, CA (known for selling Cavaliers) and
distributed literature on the Pet Store - Puppy mill connection to folks. I
will say it was difficult to find any one brave enough to accompany me.
However, Michael Allen who owns "The Royal Spaniels" magazine, was good
enough to step forward and accompany me and do a little write up in her
lovely publication. I do believe that this was an effective measure but it
must, as you say , be done on a regular basis. I believe that informing the
public is key --and the ONLY effective tool we have -- to discourage pet
stores from carrying dogs of any breed -- we must be cognizant that it is
not only Cavaliers that suffer!

All the best,
Susan V.
