I can't speak for anyone else, but I am certainly not offended, I don't see any reason as to why you should apologize for anything you've done nothing wrong, nor do I plan to challenge your feelings on PETA. I had wondered if you were aware of those quotes and you are. As far as the recipe dig, I'm not quite sure what you mean but I'll explain why I wrote it. I have noticed in the past that when discussions get a tad heated or in my own personal experience, when I've tried to get information regarding aspects of the breed, I may have unknowingly asked things that no one would answer on a public forum and then the recipe exchanges begin, much to my frustration. So, I figured, knowing I had stated a very strong personal view, I should be the one to start the recipes this time. My analogy is not to compare Ms. Newkirk to a child molester but to compare "my" feelings for what each of them stands for. The thought of ever not being able to share my life with my companion animals and the thought that any of our domestic pets being released into wild and unprotected is just as abhorrent "to me" as the idea of not protecting innocent children from being manipulated by those who say they have the right to choose to participate in acts that only adults have the maturity to understand the consequences of.
