Oh well out comes the "Red Book" VBG. There are variations as to who is
awarded a stud book number - the number of dogs exhibited in the breed
determines what "Band" they are in etc whether it is obedience, working ,
field trials, agility or conformation.
Therefore I will give the details for Cavaliers who are in Band E
(numerically large entries at Championship shows!!)

The Stud book is published Annually (I think)and the entry consists of the
registered name of the dog, its sex, colour, date of birth, owner, breeder
and a three generation pedigree. The dog is entered in the book in the name
of the owner when it gained it's number

The number is different from the registration number in as much as it
consists of only 4 numbers and two letters.

If I have got any of this wrong no doubt someone will correct me!! VBG

Annette

The first two are common to all breeds
1 Dogs winning Challenge or Reserve Challenge certificates
2 A dog that has obtained his/her Junior Warrant

Band E First, second or third in Open class: First, second or third in Limit
provided that such classes are not subject to any limitation as to weight,
colour or other description.
In other words "Open under 18lbs" for instance which is one we have does not
qualify. "Open resident in Scotland" is another
