Well, our breed is "The Sporting Toy" and any breed can be trained to point, retrieve etc., they just won't have the style and intensity required for competitive field trials, but would make excellent personal hunting dogs. Not all sporting dogs are born with the desire to hunt, but can be taught, I know pro trainers who do this, they may have to use different techniques and take more time. but they do it.
