Cavaliers are very much like this, although some are better "natural" retrievers. I think it has more to do with the basic natural instincts of the breed rather than what breeding strains they come from. My two old girls will will retrieve a ball readily, and the 12 and a half year old will eat a bird if she catches it (and she has caught one or two thru the years. My black and tan bitch is crazy for birds (and silly me, I named her 'My Blackbird') and her mother is crazy for birds and her grandmother killed a young woodchuck AND a bird or two in her younger days. My first Great Pyrenees used to bark at jet planes flying over my house, and he always "looked" to be sure it was a plane and not a bird, which he never barked at or noticed much. <G> Judy Gates ========================================================= "Magic Commands": to stop receiving mail for awhile, click here and send the email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20NOMAIL to start it up gain click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20MAIL E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] for assistance.
