Michael...I do like this approach but what about the champion stud who does
not produce well and the bitch that does her winning in the whelping box?
Not all champion studs and btiches are good producers. This might encourage
breeding to the "favor of the week" instead of in depth pedigree study and
evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of each pair. We already have an
issue with people putting CKCS in the ring to finish that are not true
outstanding examples of the breed.  I have seen CKCSs that I would not
consider a show prospect but are shown enough until finished or shown in
areas of the USA that it is easier to obtain majors and related
champioships.  So I do agree with creating a "Gold Standard in the Breed",
but we have to careful on its criteria.  I do think the idea of connecting
passing health tests to the level of excellence of the dog is a wonderful
idea!!! Thank you Michael for some excellent food for thought!!!
