I have never been keen on co-ownerships myself except in very special cases.
Once in a while someone may want to own a dog or bitch that I bred that I had
decided to keep.for myself. If I know the person well and trust them to do
right by the animal, I will let it go to live with them on a co-ownership.
In greyhounds, I have done this more often than in cavaliers. The only
reason I do this is so that I can continue to produce using the best of my
line so that the line will continue. In cavaliers, I am too new,( only about
eight years), to really have developed a line of my own. I'm still taking
advantage of the knowledge and lines of the talented breeders who have shared
with me. It is also much easier to keep an extra cavalier here and there
than it is an extra greyhound.

In most circumstances, I think it is very controlling of someone to sell many
dogs on coownerships. Sometimes it seems that some breeders are giving
buyers the right to pay for a dog, its entries its food and its medical
bills, but is one that the breeder continues to feel and treat as his own.
I'm careful who gets my pups, and sell almost all on limited registrations
but, after that, I think the buyer has a right to feel his dog is his own.
