They discussed this but if a bitch has had trouble conceiving, they won't do it. In this case the bitch still would not have conceived if they had done it that way. It was the cyst that was preventing her from getting pregnant. They find that very often bitches who don't conceive have one or more cysts (in some large breeds they sometimes find 20 or more of these cysts!) which prevents pregnancy. With a surgical they are able to examine the uterus, see if anything looks wrong and pop any cysts--so it has a much higher rate of success. The bitch had 4 progesterone tests to pinpoint the exact right time.
