I agree that it is probably myositis--although one can always hope it is
something else. Myositis is an autoimmune condition and is usually just the
beginning of a life time (a short life time) of health problems. Few
puppies who develop this condition live past 6 years of age--if that.

I had a ruby puppy bitch born about 7 1/2 years ago who developed the same
symptoms at 6 weeks of age. This was a puppy from my big disaster
litter--the one that I have mentioned in the past. My vet took one look at
the puppy and knew what it was. I believe simple bloodwork confirmed it.
The only thing they did was put her on steroids for 2 weeks--nothing else at
all. She got gradually better until all her symptoms were gone. The
steroid dosage for treatment is very high and the puppy must be weaned off
the steroids slowly when better. Treatment wasn't expensive at all. I gave
the puppy away to a couple who loved having dogs with special needs because
I knew the overall chance for a long or healthy life for such a puppy are
quite slim. They kept in contact with me for a few years and she was
moderately healthy, but I've since lost touch with them. I really doubt she
is still alive at 7+ years of age but I suppose anything is possible.

I do hope and pray this puppy doesn't have myositis.

I have an article about this condition that was studied in a group of
Cavaliers. If you are interested, please contact me privately.
