Well, okay. Who would determine which temperaments would be acceptable?
Who would keep the records on whether or not a reserved dog was softer
because of genetics versus environment? Is dog aggression acceptable? Is
cat aggression? Squirrels and rabbit? Who would define type? The person
who prefers a deep stop, or the person who prefers a shallow stop? The
person who prefers shorter backs and heavier bone structure, or the one who
puts lovely movement above other structural issues? Who would make the
decision as to whether or not you were willing to use an 8 year old heart
clear boy who had mild dysplasia in one hip versus a 2.5 year old boy who
was OFA good? Who would decide if the boy who produced retinal folds but
who had 8 year old heart clear parents was more valuable to you than the boy
who produced clear eyes but had a parent die at six of causes unknown to
you. You don't get to legislate these questions, Winnie. Neither does
CKCSC. Neither does AKC. It might go as far as being required to produce
cardiac clearances on breeding animals, but much past that and you are in
really deep water. I'm not willing to let you make those decisions, Winnie.
I'm not even willing to let pet owners vote on those decisions. Myra
