Sorry Susan - I saw litters being registered with dogs as young as 6 months old, maybe 4 - 6 litters a year. Some were intentional and some were admittedly accidents. I was the person who wrote to the BOD two years in a row asking that the age be raised to a year. They "compromised" on 9 months. Again, breeders don't like being told what they can and can't do, and as a breeder now I agree, but if a female must be a year old, there was NO age specified for a male at all. Somehow that didn't seem to me to be equitable. FWIW.
