Hi,

I was wondering if any of you have had experience with a virus called
Campylobacter jejuni? I am visiting a website that states "Surveys have
shown that C. jejuni is the leading cause of bacterial diarrheal illness in
the United States. It causes more disease than Shigella spp. and Salmonella
spp. combined.

I have 2 puppies here that have tested positive for it.....both have
explosive diarrea (sorry) and are not eating well. The vet told me tonight
that not only is it contagious amongst the animals, but it is highly
contagious to humans as well.

She said that the modes of transportation are infected raw meat or infected
eces. Both of these puppies unfortunately like to dine in the dog
yard. The vet said that some dogs can carry the bacteria, but not show any
signs of carrying it, however they will shed the bacteria in their feces.

The only thing that has been different in my household for months is that I
attended an AKC dog show with one dog and then visited with a friend. Now
at this friends house, she does feed a raw diet and my boy had what the
rest of the household was having for dinner, so my feelings are, that he
either picked something up at the show venue or the raw meat was
suspect. Other than that, I have no clue. I feed California Natural dog
food with flax oil mixed in.....no raw meat and the dogs have not been
exposed to any outside influences since the CNE show in March.

I am anxious to hear if any of you have had any experiences with this
bacteria? Leanne??

Kind regards,
Kim
