Dear David:

I'm willing to bet it is an airborne allergy, probably dust, since it comes
on when the furnace comes on. Not much you can do about dust but you can do
something about the allergy.

Give your girl a 600 mg Bee Pollen tablet daily. Available at any health
food store. I had a labrador who went to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of
13. When he was a young dog, he suffered terribly scratching until he was
raw and bleeding. I went the conventional route with cortisone shots twice
yearly until someone put me onto Bee Pollen. Once he was on the Bee Pollen,
he never had another hot spot and never had another shot of the dreaded
cortisone.

Good Luck.

English Setter since she was two years old. She is now six. We took her to
an allergist who tested her and gave us serum to inject every two weeks and
then give her allergy oral medication every day (which made her sleep,
sleep, sleep). We were spending a lot of money for the serum and meds and
couldn't see any improvement in her for over three years.

goes on in the house she scratches until she bleeds. When the heat goes off
(our just barely runs), she immediately stops scratching and is perfect.
The vet thought it might be something outside, but we know it's not. It's
the heat factor in the house, and we live in Minneapolis, so the heat is on
about 7-8 months a year.

> My question is====can anyone help? We have taken her off of all
injections (they weren't helping anyhow and were very expensive) and taken
her off of oral meds (she wasn't even a dog anymore--just slept all day).
What can we do other than move out of state (can't do that for our one dog).
