I always quote a price immediately. Often times they go into "sticker shock", but most of the times they are pleasant about it. I remind them that when we buy a dog, we pay the same that they are paying; usually more because we are buying imports to use for showing. They do often call back after they've had a chance to verify that cavaliers are expensive pretty much every where you look. Myra
