When someone calls and asks if I am a breeder of Cavaliers (almost always the
way they start but most of them, as you know, call them by the wrong name.)
I say that I am and then ask if they can tell me something about themselves
and their family.
I start out by asking questions about them and then, before really giving
them a chance I say "and now let me tell you about me and my dogs." The
first thing I tell them is that my dogs are tested at least once a year by a
cardiologist and an opthalmologist, etc. and not to consider from a breeder
who can not show you papers." It goes on from there.....usually about an
hour. As I said, I invite them all to come visit whether I have puppies or
not. I generally like most people and have helped many find puppies from
other breeders (many of you on this list) when it is appropriate.
