Hi Mary The same thing happened to me, not once, but twice, in two different situations several years apart ... no way to rectify the problem unless you want to find someone who is good with hair extensions ... patience is what you'll need now, I'm afraid ... and I too WAS both traumatized and furious!!
People often don't really listen and make assumptions about what they think that they are hearing ... now, I literally pick up a paw and show the person who is actually DOING the grooming what needs to be done ... How long will it take? Several months, as I recall ... I'm so sorry for you ... in my instance I wasn't showing, but Willie had a commercial shoot coming up several weeks later ... I knew that no one would notice except for you guys and me, of course ... so the damage done didn't have nearly the same ramifications that this will have for you. My recommendations? Throw a few tantrums, yell and scream some more, and then give Baker a great big hug and count your blessings that in the larger scheme of things he is healthy and the slippers will grow back ... but not if you measure fur growth every day!
