Yes, the breed standard does describe the head.  And...it is the breed
standard which puzzles me the most.  It states that the length of the nose
from the base of stop to tip of nose should be at least 1.5 inches long.
Trust me, there are plenty of cavaliers out there with shorter noses than
that.  Our Judge on one of our last show weekends awarded the wins to dogs
with muzzles shorter than breed standard including for best of breed.  I had
my handler ask him why, and he said he liked the heads with shorter muzzles.
  Some were well shorter than breed standard, particularly the one who won
Best of Breed.    That is what has prompted my questions.  Myra
