Dear Barb:

What great news! At the very very least, you have given quality of life
back to your cavaliers that they would not have otherwise enjoyed. I had
often wondered how you were making out after you initially contacted me for
info.

Just as an FYI, Sonja Gordon is a cardiologist who trained at Guelph
University here in Ontario and was a student of our Dr. Mike O'Grady. She
is part of our "brain drain". Our loss and definitely your gain.

Also as an FYI, Guelph University is well into a Pimobendan study (all
breeds). It is the intension of our National Club's MVD study to
incorporate our own drug trial using this drug, but that hasn't been put
into action yet. Currently we only have a Phase I and Phase III approach
to studying/treating MVD. Phase I is to identify and track MVD in an
individual. Once the individual requires medication it is removed from the
Phase I portion of the study. Phase III really is the end part of the
study as it currently takes in dogs who are into CHF and requiring
medication. Our Phase II study will likely be designed to see if this drug
is able to delay progression and will be given to individuals who are not
in heart failure but do have a particular level of MVD heart murmur and a
certain age level (parameters yet to be set), but that is only my current
understanding of what the intent will be.

Thanks for sharing your experience!!
