Hi Barb,

Interested in your post regarding Pimobendin.

18 months ago, Pimobendin is what my vet and I decided to put La Fraise on in
her 12th year to help with her cardiac problems. She had seemed to go down
hill on the other Beta blockers and her frusemide doses had reached their
limits of capabilities.

My vet told me about a vet friend of his who had used Pimobendin on a
Retriever with very good results but neither he, nor his friend had much
information on it apart from this new generation beta blocker works in a
different way to the older ones.

As we were in a "nothing to loose" situation, we gave it a go.

I can confirm that it certainly did make a difference to her life. She too
was more like her old self and although she wasn't coughing badly before she
started on the Pimobendin, the cough certainly abaited during her time on
this medication.

We were not able to try it for long because she went into liver and kidney
failure about 4 months after starting the treatment and sadly we had to have
her put to sleep.

How long she would have remained well for or whether indeed the liver &
kidney failure was the "trade off" for using the other drugs, we will never
know but she certainly was different for that short period of time.

Best
Ellie
