One of my repro vets does a spay after c-section almost routinely in bitches ready to retire. I have cared for several in my secondary vocation as a "whelper". The newly spayed bitches were able to nurse their puppies without difficulty. I imagine it depends somewhat on the skill of the surgeon. Obviously, if the surgeon has any doubts at all, I wouldn't push it, but with at least two of my breeder vets, I would not hesitate at all.
