Hello list! I thought some of you may want to see some statistics from around the world regarding hip dysplasia - this is a list taken from 'koiramme' (our dogs) magazine which is the official dog magazine published monthly by our Finnish kennel club.
In the list the name of the breed is unfortunately in Finnish and I really haven't got the time to translate them all - but the top trio should be made clear I think: German shepherd, Labrador retriever, Golden retriever. I'll of course translate any one of them if requested. The kennel club has counted the percentage of the dogs in each of these breeds who have grade C, D or E hip 'score' - these grades are considered C: mild HD, D: clearly HD E: difficult HD. The number resulting is hence the percentage of 'ill' dogs. The list was 'squashed' to the left in order to make it possible to send it in an email but you can hopefully still comprehend some of it (?!?) - in order to get the big picture. First row states 'breed' (rotu) and the year for the percentage (-94 -95 -96 -97 -98 -99 -00 -01 ) and in the end of the row you see the number of dogs that have been examined in order to get the latest percentage (kpl).
