Hi Joan -

You are absolutely correct about staying within the standard and the fact
that that are a lot of Cavaliers out there that are at or above the top end
size wise. However - and I know nothing about Pam's puppy - over the years
I have run into the ocassional Cavalier that weighed 11 lbs or fewer when
full grown (age 2 yrs or so) - and have had two of my own that grew up to
weigh only 8 and 9 pounds respectively when full grown. While it may not
ocurr in all lines, I do know that in my lines, what we call "tinys"
ocassionally occur - it may go back to the smaller size of the English Toy
and the Papillion. No matter where it comes from, I would prefer not to
breed from girls that small, just as I would prefer not to breed to a 25 lb
boy....
