I don't have any problems with the dogs or cats scratching my leather sofa and loveseat, but I'm not going to tell you that puppies (not the adult dogs!) haven't tried to use them as a large chew toy on occassion though! However, they are holding up well and are MUCH easier to clean than fabric.
