Debbie, Having Schipperkes (a very heavy coated breed) here in South
Florida where it is HOT and HUMID we get hot spots a lot. If the spot is
crusty or very goopy, wash it first with a mix of Povodine Iodine and warm
water. Get all the goop and crust off so the area can dry. Then spray with
Bactine. After you have it cleaned, the Bactine should stop it from getting
goopy again and spraying once a day until the scab is gone should do it.
Have found this is the fastest way to clear them up. Hot spots are painful
to the dog and the washing and spraying will sting, so be as gentle and
loving as you can, but this will clear it up fast and keep it from
spreading.

Take care
