Hi Gerri, In rescue do you find that the fees will vary because a Cavalier comes in. I know that Cavaliers have slipped though the cracks here. In your area does it make a difference if it is Humane Society or town animal control?
I do know that some hard to place dogs have gone "free" just to get them a good home. The fee at the HS used to be $50 but I think it is up to $100 now. I wonder what Cass's experience in NJ has been.
