And so what if they are?  Private rescues need money.  More likely, they are
simply trying to recoup their expenses.  I haven't seen the dog in question,
but spay/neuter, vaccines, etc., don't come cheap.  Rescue has to pay vets
just like everyone else.  I currently have a Cavalier mix rescue dog.  Her
vet bills are in excess of $400.  If I charge a $400 adoption fee for her, am
I trying to make money, or just recouping my expenses??
