I think that this is why, Jo Ann. I have to say.........with tremendous regret in so saying, that I've been completely converted to the ACKCSC, USA view that pet owners shouldn't have regular memberships. I would have fought this tooth and nail five years ago. Our pet owners have been a tremendous asset in many valuable ways; volunteering for thankless jobs, rescue, and a myriad of wonderful but hard tasks. Of course, in the view of ACKCSC, USA they can do that as associate (non-voting) members. Their role is no less important than mine as a breeder, but it is different. I wouldn't presume to tell rescue how to do their job.
Someone, somewhere is lobbying and not for the betterment of our dogs. Winnie and Charlotte........I would really like to know WHAT your position is on the serious issues of genetic diversity vs. the heart protocol, how you interpret what Leanne and Laura said and what you propose instead? Shouting "mandatory testing" over and over again is NOT a position that anyone can understand. Please tell us what thoughtful plan you would have for breeding healthy Cavaliers and avoiding selecting for other serious problems. Convince me I'm wrong here and that you have thoughtfully read, understood and educated yourselves before endorsing "mandatory testing".
