The vast majority of prescription drugs in the US are labeled as not to be taken by pregnant or nursing mothers. This is because when it becomes time for human trials, pharmaceutical companies don't test the drugs on pregnant women or women who are nursing. (After all, who would volunteer?) Plus, even if they could test pregnant or nursing women, the best they could hope to get is "safe for now" because who knows what would show up in the offspring years later? Therefore, they can't say the product is safe for those categories of patients. And they don't. It doesn't follow that the drug is *dangerous* -- it may be quite safe -- but it's unknown.

I was about to make it for a little 10 month old I have who has not much interest in eating but I can't find Total cereal anywhere in my area.
