Cynthia and Jennifer I would add that in addition to traveling with the dogs in plastic crates, if possible, their crates should also be secured. If the crates are in a car seat, it's easy to strap them in with seatbelts run through the handle of the crate. If not, depending upon the vehicle, it may also be possible to secure them with bunjee cords. If at all possible, strap them down somehow.
