>>let the people you are trying so hard to paint in a negative light answer
you directly.<<

It's far from clear that your people are the same people being described
negatively. Since more than one company or organization is doing this, some
could be doing it perfectly safely and others could not. I think that
everyone whose vet says no to it, should listen. After all, if you can't
follow your own vet's advice, you should get another vet.

However, I used to have a dog who accumulated vast amounts of plaque no
matter how many bones, etc. He needed a cleaning every 6-8 months. He didn't
get it that often because of my worries about general anesthesia. If this
option had been available then, I would have had his teeth cleaned under
general anesthesia every couple of years and used a non-anesthesia service
in between.

That is -- assuming the following to be true: (1) I had checked the methods
and references of the person doing the cleaning; (2) there were no ill
effects from the cleaning; and (3) my vet approved.

I don't see why this service should be INTRINSICALLY dangerous/ineffective,
but because it's new and because it's unlicensed, I would be cautious. I'm
not turning just anyone with a dental pick loose on my animals.
