Robin I think it has to be said that some dogs and bitches have what you term "bell shaped ear feathering quite naturally without any "outside assistance- it depends to a certain extent on the shape of the ear leather and also on the skill of the groomer when drying the ears. I am not a skilled groomer by any manner of means but if you look at the photo of Miss Chief on my webpage her ears looked bell shaped and that is totally natural! Likewise feathering on feet can be worn down naturally with road work and running on gravel I am not denying that trimming does not exist but not all exhibitors resort to enhancing their dogs in this manner.
