I used Oxi-clean recently in my Hoover steam cleaner. It worked fine, just dissolve it in hot water first.
I have to say, however, that my reason for using it was that my bitch who was about to go into heat, peed a nice big very stinky spot under my dining room table and I thought I would just clean the whole living room carpet. I soaked up the pee, soaked the spot again with Oxi-clean and soaked up the Oxi-clean and then went over the area with my steam cleaner (filled with an Oxi-clean solution). The spot still smelled strongly of urine. Then I sprayed the area heavily with Simple Green, and noticed a drastic difference. So I filled up my steam cleaner with Simple Green and went over the spot. Major difference.
