This would be absolutely crazy! I guarantee that if every single dog or bitch were able to produce 100 offspring--they would ALL produce hip dysplasia, retinal dysplasia, patellar luxation, and early onset MVD in one or more of their offspring. Some would produce more than average of some things and less than average of some things. THERE ARE NO PERFECT DOGS OR PERFECT LINES!! Testing is to find a balance so nothing gets out of hand such as MVD did. This is why it is SO important to have as many dogs tested for things AND REPORTED so breeders can make good decisions. If we all did this, we would find that X line is better than average in say hips and hearts, but worse than average in eyes and patellas. We would find the Y line is better than average in eyes and patellas and worse than average in hips and hearts. Then you can breed to X line if you find your line has average or worse than average hips and hearts for improvement, etc. And for those of you who think your dogs have none of these problems, it is simply because you aren't looking. Dogs are no more perfect than humans are.
