Just a guess: You need a clamav user. Therefore it's conceivable that some idiot could email [EMAIL PROTECTED], and get their spam delivered locally. Since that is undesirable, and rejecting email to that user is somewhat difficult, and you don't want to delete mail without a human seeing it, it makes some sense to redirect it to root.
