I can't speak for Transvirtual, but I can tell you what they told me
and what my impression is.

First of all, you will have to acknowledge the fact that Transvirtual
is a company that allows others to use their work under a restricted
copyright (GPL). They have been supportive to their (non-paying) users,
they also have gotten a substantial amount back. Contributions and
bug fixes from users generally make their way into the public tree
quickly, usually within a matter of days.

The have obligations to their customers, and one of them is to support
their class libraries (that they wrote and understand). From that point
of view, it makes sense for them to keep using them.

The other question is whether they devote resources to the classpath
integration. They do not, and the only reason they do not is because
they don't have the resources. If somebody implemented the VM layer
classpath requires for Kaffe, I'm sure this undertaking would
find their approval and the support of the Kaffe community. I would
not call the fact that they don't spend their own time and money doing
that "uncooperative". In fact, I believe that such undertaking would
benefit both classpath and kaffe.
