Just to clarify a bit, what you are calling a router, I'm guessing, is one of those linksys (or other) personal firewalls that also do nat. And those do have dhcp servers, at least all the ones I've seen have then, and they are easy to setup to assign static ip addresses. If you need a hand setting that up I can give you a hand with it.
