Why is this such an issue right now? Every major distribution
has _several_ high performance mirrors that will outperform anything that
we could put together based on P2P with our cable and DSL lines. Yes
when a new version of a distro comes out the mirrors can be slow, but
there are a couple of things to remember:
#1 There are some sites that mirror RedHat and Mandrake that
don't list themselves on the download pages... they usually perform very
well - especially during times like this. (try finding a mirror of a
mirror)
#2 Do any of us really _need_ the newest copy of RedHat or Mandrake
the day it comes out? Try waiting a couple of days and try again :)
Just some stuff to think about.

Could we use some sort of P2P system to distribute the
load over a number of members? That way the bandwidth and storage
issues would not fall on just one of us.
