it is in as much as MS Access lacks many features an often gets pushed into 
roles it shouldn't be in =)

it isn't just about scaling, it's about having proper tools for the job.

that's a decent sized db. if you don't mind me asking: what sort of data is it 
(e.g. mostly text, numeric...)? ... ave field / record / table size? what 
sort of queries (e.g. ave # of fields in wheres, tables joined per query, 
etc)? what's the transaction rate on it?

this is truly useful information when helping people choose Free systems... =)

lots of people run windows as a web server too. there is a difference between 
"can be made to", "good enough" and "good"
