Oh, you left the vintage os .. O well, you have loads of space anyway :- you are missing boot You created one partition less. You have created a virtual partition , now you can create as meny logical partitions as you like (almost) in that one, hence hda5,6 etc... you should create them partitions as i mentioned and assign them boot, root, home and swap :-) If you are lazy, you may want to create boot , root and swap only, but many would advise you against doing so, and they would be right :-)
install grub (or lilo) on the mbr then it will automatically pick up the vintage os partition and boot it :-) Remember to create a boot disk and a rescue disk while you are at it, it could come in handy :-) On Saturday 30 November 2002 19:03, you wrote: > Currently I have: > > hda device type size Percent > /mnt/nt hda1 ntfs 2.9GB 15 > hda5 Journalized FS:ext3 5.3GB 28 > hda6 Linux swap 243MB 1 > hda7 Journalized FS:ext3 10GB 54 > > What to do next? > > At 06:32 PM 11/30/2002 -0700, you wrote: > >Since you would not be intrested in the legacy system anymore, then it > > would be very easy to get rid of it entirely :-) > >First , when you re boot your puter from the mdk cd, choose the > > installation (new) menu item :-) > >Then you will be able to use diskDruid to create partitions, first delete > > the partition the legacy os was hogging before.
