Hold it. This just in from a fellow at Mandrake, but I will really need help interpreting all this:

Dan?

Concerning the VIA i guess there is a work around to do so. I look on the "erratas":
http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/errata.php3#viac3

Error scenario: Errors occur during install if you have a VIA C3 processor (error installing XFree86 or some other packages)
Why: The kernel doesn't correctly report the Intel compatability of the processor.
Solution: To perform the installation, use the boot floppy image /images/alternatives/cdrom.img-2.2.19-BADZ5 on the first CD-ROM (or any other .img with a 2.2.19 kernel, for network installs, etc.); when you are asked for the root password, go to console #2 (CTRL-ALT-F2) and type "rm -rf /mnt/lib/i686", then go back to console #7 (CTRL-ALT-F7) and finish the installation.

If people are receiving errors...
How is it that people thing that a distribution is ready for hte desktop?

I AM NOT against Linux, do not get me wrong.
I think Linux will overtake the OS market.
(I viciously hate microsoft) You have no idea.

Still, I do not think Linux is ready for the desktop for anotehr 2 years
yet.. My honest opinion. Of which, I try, to be, unbiased.

Richard.
