Hello, Unfortunately I can not RTFM on this one since I don't use Mandrake, but interjecting a little sarcasm (please take it as a joke) - What manual? LOL.
Now I digress. I don't know a gosh darn thing about Mandrake but looking
at those errors, I would suggets you try installing libpng manually. Not
sure if its on the CD, but you can always download it from RPMFIND.net.
One of two things is happening here. Either that library isn;t
installed, or that library was installed but the upgrade broke some
dependencies and there is a problem with a symbolic link etc.
www.rpmfind.net and search for libpng. Download the Mandrake 9.0 ones,
install and see what happens. As I say, just a shot in the dark.
Libpng provides:
Provides
* libpng3
* libpng
* libpng.so.3
* libpng12.so.0
I noticed that on the mandrake forum there are others that seem to have
libpng related issues as well after the upgrade to 9.0
