I can see that this is starting to piss you off, but you have to understand 
that if you are using Mandrake 9.0 sources for 8.2 then this is going to 
happen. The packages you are trying to install are made for MDK 9, so when you 
try to upgrade one this, it needs another tool greater than the version you 
have (but equal to the 9.0 version), so it upgrades that package, and that 
package needs newer versions of other packages so it upgrades those. Your 
right, VIM doesn seem to have anything to do with samba, but you see what I am 
getting at here? You shouldn't be using 9.0 sources. You should either upgrade 
to 9.0, or try and find packages for Mandrake 8.2, or install from source or 
source rpms.
