by specifying the wrong mouse type in the /etc/XF86Config file. Make
sure that it is the only mouse connected to your system. You can then
use gui tools to configure the mouse. Under SuSE it should be a module
in Yast2. If it doesn't auto-detect your mouse properly then just
specify the value manually. Make sure you apply the changes and then
restart your X server. This can be done without the use of the mouse by
hitting Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, or assuming that you are in runlevel 5 hit
Ctrl.-Alt-F1, log in as root and type init 3 and then init 5. You might
want to play around with different mouse settings until you find one
that works.

I thought it was the mouse itself AOPEN s48a ps2 wheel mouse so
I tried configuring as something else, no joy, then swiped someone
elses MS intellimouse because there is a specified setting. No good.
I can get the mouse to go part way up the screen but when I lift
the mouse to take another run the cursor jumps back.
Any ideas? Could it be because I'm running a KVM switch?
I did try it without the KVM.
Any help much appreciated even if shows how dumb I really am.
