You should be able to edit it out of the config file for X.

Someone more familiar than myself should be able to give detailed advice.
I'd consiter myself a gui newbie.  I could fake my way through it for
myself, but it would be hopeless for me to try to help someone else.  You'll
either want the nv driver or the nvidia one.  I can't really remember.  But
fixing the config file will be easier than undeleting and reinstalling.
