Hi all,

I seem to be getting an abnormal amount of crashes in RedHat lately.
They seem to be fairly random, so I have been having a though time
troubleshooting this one. This morning it crashed at 08:39. This time I
was able to extract some information from the system log, but I'm having
a hard time making heads or tails of it. It seems to start at 08:35 with
a NULL pointer dereference, there's a kernel oops in the middle, and at
08:39 it crashes with the NULL pointer error. Does anyone know what this
all means?
This won't happen to be Red Hat 8, would it? Has syslogd been crashing as well.

There is definitely a problem though I have been unable to isolate it. My logs seemed to indicate that DRM might have been the problem but I updated to the newest DRI video drivers and still it crashes.

By any chance are you running redhat's 2.4.18-19.8 kernel? I know that before I re-installed Red Hat, I wasn't having these problems and the only real difference that I can pin down is the update to 2.4.18-19.8 from 2.4.18-19.7.
