Hey Jarrod,
I'm also running SuSE 8.1 with an Nvidia card (Geforce4 Ti4400), so I have a
couple of suggestions based on my experience(s) with trying to get X and
whatnot working properly using the closed source drivers from Nvidia.
I decided to try the binaries from SuSE to see if they would make things
painless....and lo and behold, they worked for me!
Did you run the script ('switch_to_nv_glx' or something like that) after
installing the binaries? Is your mobo chipset supported by Nvgart or do you
use agpgart? Can you try Tux Racer or something and see if you get any more
than 2-3 FPS?
Can you post your /etc/X11/XF86Config? This should help figure out what is
going so wrong.
As well, for those who want an excellent link on howto install UT2K3 in linux,
check out http://www.thehaus.net/ATHun/rev-ut2k3-linux.shtml
Regards,
Chris
